Issues

Strengthening the Economy

All the news and many indicators point to the fact of a slowing American economy. We are pressured by the fast-growing economies of Asia and our own internal crises. For America to remain a superpower and the leader of the free world, it is important that we remain the economic powerhouse we have been known as over the past decades.

National Security & Defeating Terrorism

Providing national security is one of the first and foremost important functions of government. With the threats of radical Jihadists and global terrorism currently facing America, we need a leader in Washington who will make who will make our national security one of their top priorities.

Protecting Families & Values

With the family and our values being threatened by activist judges and radical causes, there is no greater time than now to act and save our families and values from these threats. We can no longer afford to stand on the sidelines when it comes to such important issues as these.

Fixing Health Care

Even though we have one of the top health care systems in the world, there are still changes that can be made to make it more affordable, accessible and efficient. With the increases in the cost of health care far outpacing the standard cost of living increases, something must be done soon before the problem gets out of control.

Holding the Line of Taxes & Spending

More money is not the answer to our federal government's problem. In fact, federal tax receipts are higher than ever since the Bush Tax cuts were implemented. Washington has a spending problem that needs to be reigned in so that taxpayers feel their government is accountable to them, and not vice-a-versa.

Solving Social Security

By refusing to confront the issue of Social Security, we are simply passing on the problem and the cost to future generations, instead of working together to find a solution now. Those who currently depend on Social Security need not worry about their benefits, but the system needs an overhaul before it destroys our economy.

Ending Illegal Immigration

It is impossible to separate the issues of national security and illegal immigration. In order to truly have national security we must first secure our borders. With over 12 million undocumented illegal immigrants in our country, the solution to illegal immigration has to be comprehensive in order to stop the flow and, at the same time, create an environment that encourages legal immigration.

Supporting the Military & Veterans

The Second Congressional district is home to two military bases, Fort Rucker and Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base. In addition, there are tens of thousands of military personnel and retired veterans in the district. The combat actions around the world in which our military is presently engaged have been determined by the President and the Congress to be correct and necessary. We have a moral obligation to support those serving our country.

Restoring Trust in Government

Recent polls show over 75% of Americans are unhappy with the way Congress is doing its job. Most of this arises because many members of Congress have been stricken with arrogance of power, which comes when serving ones self becomes more important than serving others. We need public officials who subscribe to the credence of "Service before self."
